Horwich and Blackrod Learning Community consists of a `Cluster` comprising the following Schools:
Chorley New Road Primary School, Blackrod Primary School, Lord Street Primary School, Claypool Primary School, St Catherine’s
C of E Primary School, St Mary’s RC Primary School, Blackrod Church School, Horwich and Blackrod Learning Community Childcare and members of the Every Child Matters Partnership.
Julie Ramsden of Blackrod Primary School says :
“The idea for sharing arose as we have two after-school childcare facilities within our `Learning Community` and short term hiring of a Minibus to transport our children to the two sites was becoming very expensive. At one of our meetings it was suggested that we lease a new Minibus through one of our Schools and share the costs amongst all of us.
So far it is working well with one School holding the diary for bookings and the cost of our new minibus being spread across the cluster organisation making it more affordable.
Castle made all the arrangements for us and had our new Logo with all the names of the participating groups on our new Minibus as well.
We all feel that this is 'our' vehicle and with all our maintenance costs included, it helps us to budget long term as well.”
